Services

TAP thinks outside the box with our services. We aim for services to be fun, educational and most importantly applicable to daily life. We teach our students through an activities based format that resembles play for our younger students and projects for our older students. We aim to be outdoors and in the community as much as possible. Our programs emphasize social skills, communication, recreation/leisure skills, community skills, daily living skills and the generalization of academic skills. Programs here offer our students training in:

  • Generalized academic subjects: math, reading, and writing for daily use
  • Social skills: communication, sharing, taking turns, and following directions
  • Daily living skills: grooming, personal hygiene, cooking and age appropriate chores
  • Recreational and leisure skills to broaden interests & try new activities
  • Pre-vocational skills with community partnerships: The Lobby Coffee Bar. End Hunger Warehouse, Chesapeake Cares Food Pantry
  • Health: exercise, yoga, healthy food choices

We value the input of our families greatly. If there is a need, we will incorporate that into therapy for our students. It’s more often than not that others have the same need.
